FOR WHOM THE FRENCH RIVER BELL TOLLS
Rainbow Camp Cottage and Trailer Park is a quiet and relaxing family fishing and camping resort located in Noelville, Ontario, an easy three and a half hour drive North of Toronto and an hour outside of Sudbury. It is the first and therefore oldest tourist camp on the North Channel of the French River and has been in continuous operation for over 100 years.
Established by Joseph Houle as Rocky Bay Camp, the story goes that he did so at the suggestion of the famous writer Ernest Hemingway who was known to frequent the area and to have kept a cabin of his own just across the river on 18 Mile Island.
Joseph operated the tourist camp until 1945 when he sold to John Black from Cleveland, Ohio. To this day Joseph and his wife Adelina’s great grandchildren and their descendants remain part of the Rainbow Camp seasonal family!
“Rainbow” as it is locally and affectionately known offers clean and fully equipped 1, 2 and 3 bedroom housekeeping cottages with BBQs, satellite TV and Star Link wifi service which is free to disconnect.
We also offer camping sites with 15amp service and water (hook up only) as well as boat and motor rentals and a boat launch.
Whether you are looking for some peaceful R&R, chasing your favourite trophy fish or looking to explore 10 miles of the historic French River, Rainbow Camp is the perfect spot for your next outdoor vacation.
